Debt help across West Yorkshire
Five councils, five Crisis and Resilience Fund schemes, one legal framework. Leeds holds England’s third-largest allocation; Bradford’s system launches late; Kirklees opened first with a ten-minute form. The solutions are identical everywhere.
What differs by district
Whether the scheme is actually open yet (Bradford’s was not by summer 2026), how often you can apply (Leeds: once per household per 12 months), how plainly eligibility is stated (Kirklees lists every qualifying benefit; Calderdale says no award if income or savings cover the need), and how help finds people (Wakefield has pushed vouchers automatically through Council Tax Support records). Each district page carries the exact allocation, the scheme as the council states it, and the fact most likely to save a wasted application.
The boundary problem
WF postcodes split between two councils: WF1–WF11 are Wakefield, WF12–WF17 (Dewsbury, Batley, Mirfield) are Kirklees. BD postcodes reach Ilkley and the Craven edge; LS postcodes cover Otley to Wetherby; HX is Calderdale throughout. The council finder resolves any postcode in seconds. South of the county line, South Yorkshire is covered the same way.
Debt solutions across the region
Every district is in England: IVA, DRO, bankruptcy, Breathing Space and DMP apply identically. DROs need an approved intermediary, which the region’s Citizens Advice services provide free.
