My Debt Map

Enter what you owe, to how many people, your housing and your postcode. See your own position mapped out, and which of Britain's three legal frameworks actually applies to you.

You can get free, impartial debt advice

You never have to pay for debt advice. MoneyHelper (government-backed), StepChange, National Debtline and Citizens Advice all give free, confidential advice with no obligation. We would rather you got good advice somewhere than bad advice from anyone.

Routes worth understanding

Things your answers flag up

This is not an eligibility assessment. It reflects what you have entered and the legal framework where you live. Whether any of these routes is open to you depends on a full assessment by someone authorised to carry one out.

What this shows you, and what it deliberately does not

It shows the shape of your position and which of Britain's three legal frameworks governs it. It does not rank solutions, it does not say you qualify for anything, and it does not tell you what to do. Those are advice, and giving advice requires FCA authorisation that we do not hold and are not pretending to.

We built it this way on purpose. There is a whole category of website that takes four answers and produces a confident "you could write off 78% of your debt". That number is invented. It cannot be known from four answers, and presenting it as though it can is precisely the practice regulators have been acting against.

Why location comes first

Because most UK debt sites quietly assume England, and for roughly five and a half million people that assumption is simply wrong. Scotland has Protected Trust Deeds, the Debt Arrangement Scheme, sequestration and the Minimal Asset Process — and no IVAs or DROs at all. Northern Ireland has its own legislation with different thresholds. Getting this wrong is not a detail; it sends people down routes that do not exist for them.

What to do with this

Read the routes it surfaces. Work out your monthly surplus with the budget calculator. Then take both to a free adviser, or to us, and have a conversation that starts from something real rather than from a blank page.

Want to take this further?

Answer eight questions and we can pass your details to one FCA-authorised debt advice firm, if you want us to. Or read the guides and go to StepChange instead — both are fine with us.

What My Debt Cleared is

We are a marketing introducer. We publish information and, if you ask us to, we pass your details to an FCA-authorised debt advice firm we work with so they can contact you. We do not give debt advice, we do not provide debt solutions, and we do not decide whether any solution is right for you. We are paid by the firms we introduce people to, never by you. Read exactly how we make money.
