Our expert reviewers
Who checks what you read here, how we verify figures, and what we do not yet have.
Who writes this site
My Debt Cleared is written and maintained by an editorial team employed by Innovate Leads Ltd, the company that operates the site. We are not debt advisers, insolvency practitioners or lawyers, and nothing here is presented as the work of one. What we are is careful: every page states its jurisdiction, its review date and the official sources it rests on, and every regulatory figure — thresholds, fees, time limits — is held in a single fact register that the site is built from, so a number is corrected once and changes everywhere.
How we check facts
Official source first: legislation, GOV.UK, the Insolvency Service, the FCA Handbook, Accountant in Bankruptcy, nidirect. Recognised free advice providers second, for explanation rather than for facts. Other commercial debt websites never. When the law changes — as England’s renting rules did on 1 May 2026, and as Northern Ireland’s Debt Relief Order limits did in 2024 — we verify the change against the primary source before the page changes, and we say on the page what changed and when. Our build process refuses to publish a page that names a scheme that no longer exists, or that carries a regulatory figure the register does not recognise. The editorial policy sets this out in full.
Independent review: where we are
We are recruiting two independent reviewers: a licensed insolvency practitioner for IVA, bankruptcy and formal insolvency content, and an appropriately qualified, FCA-authorised debt adviser for arrears, creditor action, enforcement and consumer-debt content. When each is appointed we will publish a real profile — name, photograph, qualifications, professional registration and the pages they have reviewed — and only then will any page carry a named reviewer. We would rather show an honest gap than an invented expert.
What we are, and are not
My Debt Cleared is an information and marketing introduction service. We do not give debt advice; we explain what each debt does next and what each solution involves, and where a visitor chooses to be introduced to an authorised firm, that firm’s name and FCA reference are shown before anything is sent. Where to get regulated debt advice and the free advice providers are set out honestly, because arriving at advice organised is the point of everything here.
Tell us when we are wrong
If a figure, a date or a rule on this site is out of date, tell us. We check the primary source, correct the register, rebuild, and note the correction on the page. Our complaints process covers anything more serious. A financial information site that cannot be corrected by its readers is not one worth trusting.
