Who is responsible for your data

[NOT SET], trading as My Debt Cleared, is the data controller. Company number [NOT SET]. ICO registration [NOT SET]. Contact us at privacy@mydebtcleared.co.uk.

What we collect and why

If you use Check My Options: your name, telephone number, email address, postcode, and the circumstances you tell us about — approximate debt level, number of creditors, types of debt, housing situation, employment status and disposable income band. We collect this so that the firm we introduce you to has a useful starting point rather than beginning from nothing.

Automatically: the page you arrived on, the page you submitted from, any campaign parameters in the URL, your browser type, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address used solely for rate limiting. We do not store your raw IP address with your enquiry.

If you contact us: whatever you send us.

Our lawful basis

For passing your details to a panel firm, our lawful basis is your consent, given explicitly at the point of enquiry. We store the exact wording you agreed to, its version number and the timestamp, so that what you consented to can always be established.

For site analytics and security we rely on legitimate interests — operating and protecting the site — balanced against your rights.

Who we share it with

One FCA-authorised debt advice firm from our panel, chosen on the basis of which is authorised to help in your part of the UK. Not several, not a bidding panel, and not to any other organisation. Our panel firms are listed on our regulatory disclosures page.

We also use technical suppliers — hosting, email delivery and analytics — who process data on our instructions under contract. We do not sell data to anyone, for any purpose.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records including consent evidence: six years, which is the period we may need to evidence what was consented to. Website analytics: 26 months. Correspondence: three years from the last contact.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing, ask us to restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it. Email privacy@mydebtcleared.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Marketing

We do not send marketing texts, emails or calls to people who have not asked for them, and we do not buy marketing lists. If you consented to be contacted by a panel firm, that consent covers that firm contacting you about your enquiry — not general marketing.
