Local debt help

Debt help where you live

Debt solutions are set nationally. Support is administered locally, by whichever council bills your council tax — and that is where the unclaimed help sits.

Areas we cover

One page per billing authority. If your town is not listed, it is almost certainly inside one that is — England has around 300 councils and several thousand towns.

Towns inside a larger authority

These are the ones people most often search for by name. None of them has its own council:

We deliberately do not publish a page per town or per postcode. A page that repeats the same national information with the place name changed helps nobody, and generating them at scale is exactly what search engines treat as scaled content abuse. We build an area page when we can say something specific and checkable about that council.

Not in the West Midlands?

Use the council finder to identify your billing authority, then ask it for Council Tax Reduction, its Household Support Fund and a section 13A discretionary reduction by name. Those three are the most commonly missed.

What My Debt Cleared is

We are a marketing introducer. We publish information and, if you ask us to, we pass your details to an FCA-authorised debt advice firm we work with so they can contact you. We do not give debt advice, we do not provide debt solutions, and we do not decide whether any solution is right for you. We are paid by the firms we introduce people to, never by you. Read exactly how we make money.
