Data & press

My Debt Cleared publishes an openly licensed tracker of UK individual insolvency statistics, updated on the day of each official release. This page is for journalists, researchers and anyone who wants to reuse the data properly.

The dataset

The UK Insolvency Tracker compiles the Insolvency Service’s monthly individual insolvency figures for England and Wales — total insolvencies, IVAs, Debt Relief Orders and bankruptcies — into one continuously maintained series with a source link for every month. The underlying data is Crown copyright, published under the Open Government Licence; our compilation is free to reuse under the same licence. Download the CSV.

The latest month is August 2026: 11,644 individuals entered insolvency — 7,039 IVAs, 3,880 DROs and 725 bankruptcies. The IVA figure is the highest for any month since November 2022, excluding the backlog-affected December 2025. Next release: 18 September 2026, and this page is updated the same day.

How to cite

Cite the Insolvency Service as the statistical source. If you use our series, trend calculations or charts, credit “My Debt Cleared analysis of Insolvency Service data” with a link. We ask nothing else.

Our revision policy

The Insolvency Service can revise previously published months. When it does, this series is updated to the latest published value — we do not preserve stale figures, and the tracker states the release its data reflects. If you quoted an earlier figure, the source link for that month will show what changed.

What we can help with

Trend context for the monthly release, long-run comparisons, and plain-English explanation of what IVAs, DROs and bankruptcies each are and why their numbers move differently. We are an information and marketing introduction service, not advisers — for case studies or advice comment, the debt charities are the right call, and we will say so.

For anything else, use the contact page and mention you are press — it is read daily.
