Debt deadline planner
When several letters arrive at once it is easy to miss the one that matters. Add each document with the date on it and see every deadline in date order — then save them to your phone’s calendar with reminders.

How the deadlines are worked out
Each deadline uses the same rules as our letter checker: 14 days to respond to a County Court claim (28 if you acknowledge it), 30 days to reply to a letter of claim, at least 14 days to put right a default notice, one month to pay a CCJ in full to have it removed from the register, 18 days to apply to set aside a statutory demand, 7 days after a council tax reminder, and at least 14 clear days after a notice of enforcement. They are estimates from the date you enter — always go by the dates printed on your own papers.
Setting reminders
The calendar file works with iPhone, Android, Google Calendar and Outlook. Each deadline is added as an all-day event with a reminder three days before.
If a deadline has already passed
Act anyway, and get free advice the same day. A judgment entered after a missed claim deadline can sometimes be set aside, and creditors will often still agree terms after a deadline.
You never have to pay for debt advice. MoneyHelper (government-backed), StepChange, National Debtline and Citizens Advice all give free, confidential advice with no obligation.
Common questions
How long do I have to respond to a court claim for debt?
14 days from the date of service, or 28 days if you file an acknowledgement of service within the first 14 days.
What happens if I miss a debt deadline?
It depends on the document. Missing a claim deadline can lead to judgment by default; missing a statutory demand deadline can allow a bankruptcy petition. Act straight away and get free advice — there are often still options.
