A large share of IVAs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are set up by a small number of high-volume firms. Each IVA is supervised by a licensed insolvency practitioner, and the firm is paid from your monthly payments. If you have an IVA and are struggling, contact the firm before you miss a payment. If you are thinking about an IVA, compare the alternatives and get free advice first.

IVA companies

IVA fees come out of your monthly payments, so the firm is paid only if the IVA goes ahead. That is why it matters to compare every option first. How IVA companies make money.

Complaints

Complain to the firm first. If you are unhappy with how an insolvency practitioner acted, use the Insolvency Service Complaints Gateway.

Independent directory. We do not rate, rank or recommend firms, and we are not connected with any company listed. Details checked against each firm’s own website and official records on 21 October 2026.

Common questions

Are IVA companies regulated?

IVAs must be supervised by a licensed insolvency practitioner. Firms that also give debt advice or run debt management plans need FCA authorisation for that work.
