Whoever it is, the rules are the same
No debt collector can send bailiffs, take money from your wages or come into your home without a court judgment first. Look the name up on the FCA register. If it is not there, be careful: do not pay, and ask the original lender who owns your debt. The letter checker explains any letter type.

Common questions
Who is chasing me for a debt?
The letter should name the company and say whether it is collecting for someone else or has bought the debt. Find the firm in the A–Z above. If you do not know who you owe at all, a free statutory credit report shows the accounts registered against you.
Can a debt collector take me to court?
Yes, if you owe the debt. Before going to court it must send a letter of claim and give you 30 days to reply.
Do debt collectors have to be FCA authorised?
Firms that collect consumer credit debts in the UK must be authorised by the FCA. Check any firm on the FCA register.
