What MoneyHelper does
MoneyHelper is the free, impartial money and pensions guidance service provided by the Money and Pensions Service, an arm's-length body sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions. It does not give one-to-one debt advice itself, but its Debt advice locator finds free, confidential debt advisers online, by phone or face to face.
What it can help with
- Debt advice locator to find free debt advisers (online, phone or face to face)
- Guides on money troubles and dealing with debt
- Budget Planner and Benefits calculator
- Contact by webchat, phone, online form or WhatsApp
- Welsh-language service
Who it suits
A government-backed starting point for finding a free debt adviser near you and for impartial money guidance.
How to get help
Go to the MoneyHelper website for current opening hours and ways to get in touch. It does not give one-to-one debt advice itself, so use it alongside a free debt adviser.
Independent page. My Debt Cleared is not connected with MoneyHelper and does not speak for it. Details were checked against its own website and official registers on 21 October 2026; services change, so check its site for the latest.
Other free help
You never have to pay for debt advice. MoneyHelper (government-backed), StepChange, National Debtline and Citizens Advice all give free, confidential advice with no obligation.
